CONSULTATION & ADVICE
For many parents with a child who is struggling in school, it’s hard to know how to help and where to start. Often parents have a gut instinct that something is amiss, but don’t know who to talk to, or how to offer the most effective support.
For simple ‘no nonsense’ advice, I offer consultancy meetings (either face to face or by telephone), whereby parents can discuss any issues they wish, including:-
-
Their child’s individual needs and difficulties
-
General information about dyslexia and other related SpLD’s (including attention difficulties, dyspraxia, dyscalculia, speech and language difficulties and autism)
-
How to approach the school and get your child’s needs addressed
-
Different types of assessment available
-
How to go about getting an assessment
-
How to support your child at home and help them achieve to the best of their ability
-
Transitioning from primary to secondary school
-
Tips to boost self esteem and confidence
-
Dealing with behavioural difficulties
-
Assistance filling in applications and formal paperwork
-
For older learners/workers, I also offer mentoring and support for dyslexics in higher education and the work place
